Spirit of Sandanna Tides
Dream it. Believe in it. Have the courage to make it happen.
Sandanna Tides began as a dream more than 25 years ago.
I've worked in the design industry for more than 25 years, and creativity has always been a big part of my life. My mum is an artist, so I grew up surrounded by creativity and that wonderful idea of turning something you imagine into something real.
Not just another label, but something with a story behind it.
Something inspired by the South Coast, the ocean and the way we live here. A brand that reminds us to get out there, back ourselves and enjoy the ride — because life rarely goes exactly to plan.
That idea became Sandanna Tides.
Our collections — Ride the Wave, Bay Ritual and Untamed Drift — each have their own philosophy about life. They’re about embracing the ups and downs, appreciating the little rituals that make a place feel like home, and sometimes being brave enough to drift away from the expected path and follow your own.
Because really, that’s what Sandanna Tides is for me.
For years I thought about starting this brand. Eventually I reached that point where you ask yourself:
Have you ever had a dream or a goal and thought, “I should just have a crack”?
Well… here we are, doing exactly that.
Built From the Ground Up
Sandanna Tides is very much a hands-on, independent brand.
From building the website and creating the designs to developing the collections, branding and ideas behind Sandanna Tides, I do it all myself. There’s been a lot of learning along the way, plenty of late nights, a few challenges and a whole lot of passion poured into bringing this dream to life.
But while I may be the one behind the computer and creating the designs, Sandanna Tides hasn’t been built alone.
The support and input I’ve received from people throughout the South Coast community has been incredible. Whether it’s sharing ideas, giving honest feedback, offering encouragement or simply getting behind what I’m trying to create, that local support has helped shape Sandanna Tides into what it is becoming.
And that means a lot to me.
This brand is inspired by the South Coast, created on the South Coast and, in many ways, shaped by the people who call it home.
So to everyone who has offered an idea, an opinion, some encouragement or simply said, “Go for it” — thank you.
You’re part of the Sandanna Tides story too.
Giving Back to Our Community
Giving back to the community has always been close to my heart.
In the past, I created massive Charity Fairy Light displays, raising significant funds and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis and Prader-Willi Syndrome — two causes that are incredibly personal to my family, as my niece lives with both conditions.
Those displays became about so much more than fairy lights. They brought people together, created some pretty special memories and gave me the opportunity to make a genuine difference to causes that mean so much to us.
It’s something I’ve really missed.
That’s why I’m so excited that Sandanna Tides gives me the opportunity to give back again — this time supporting our local coastal community and the Batemans Bay Surf Life Saving Club.
For me, it feels like things have come full circle. I get to combine my love of design, the South Coast and community while finally having a crack at a dream I’ve carried for more than 25 years.
And if Sandanna Tides can grow into something that not only creates great clothing, but also gives something meaningful back along the way, then that’s the kind of brand I want it to be.
